Mailbox of memories

On August 18th I will be starting my 10th year at Laramie County School District 2 and 8 of those years my students have signed there first name on this mailbox which was painted by my students in my High School colors. A recent event made my think of these students and what they are doing now.

Thrid graders and Grandparents Collaboration

Did you know that last Sunday, September 9th was Grandparents Day? In the United States the first Sunday in September after Labor Day is designated as Grandparents Day. On the following Monday Grandparents Day was celebrated at one of my schools by inviting the grandparents of the students to breakfast and to participate in some classroom activities with their grandchildren. You guessed it; some of those grandparents came in the art room as well. The following is the result of the collaboration between the grandparents and my two third grade classes.

Though this project called “Pass the Paint” the students learned and practiced the use of line, giving directions, and collaborating with each other. The lesson was adapted from a lesson by a great art teacher and my mentor Mrs. G.
